Victorian Furniture Exhibit The La Porte County Historical Society Museum displays many outstanding examples of Victorian furniture. One of them is this magnificent statue made in France about 1865 by Albert-Ernest Carrier DeBelleuse. The clock works are by S. Marti. It is believed to have been purchased by Valentine Blatz for his home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Eventually it made its way to La Porte through a granddaughter.
A tall table in the middle of the room was typical of Victorian parlors Tiffany-style lamp captures the spirit of the period.
This mahogany slant-front desk captures the Victorian style at its peak.
Perfectly exemplifying the look of high-style Victorian furniture is this three-section bookcase on display in the Victorian Parlor exhibit.
