Garment Industry in La Porte

This permanent display at the museum features items representing various garment industry companies in La Porte.

There were several mills making cloth, including the Fox Woolen Mills and the Clear Lake Woolen Mills. On display are bolts of cloth, a shirt made of locally-woven material, tools from the mills, and photographs of buildings and workers.

Ready-made clothing was also manufactured in La Porte at Coddington Sportswear on Monroe Street. The commercial sewing machine on display, patterns, and wooden sign were all from this establishment.
