| La Porte County Circuit Court House
A new addition has been added to our already beautiful Court House Square; an Indiana Historical Marker is now gracing the south-east lawn of the Court House. It was dedicated the morning of May 24th, 2001, with some visiting dignitaries looking on, as well as numerous school children. In conjunction with the dedication, the La Porte County Historical Society Museum is displaying many photographs of the Court House through the years. The Court House itself is the only constant amidst the changes that are noticeable in the photographs; different buildings, different cars, troops going off to different wars, parades, etc. Also, a display of memorabilia, including a hand off the tower clock, is being exhibited.
 | The cornerstone of the courthouse was laid June 30, 1892, and this is the third courthouse on this same location. The first was built in 1833 and the second in 1847. For more information on the history of the Court House, click here.
