Rumely and Allis-Chalmers Archive now available to researchers In the late 1990's, a large collection of original drawings from the Rumely Corporation was donated to the La Porte County Historical Society. The drawings had been stored in a garage, in their original dilapidated wood storage drawers. Today, they have been inventoried, placed in archival quality sleeves, and are now stored in top-quality metal blueprint cabinets. The parts illustrated in the drawings range from the smallest screw to larger parts that went into the making of Rumely products, especially threshing machines. The museum does not have staff available to access particular drawings for researchers, so a personal visit to our Research Library is necessary in order to search the inventory of the drawings. If a desired part is listed, at that point the drawing can be located and arrangements made for copying. Below is an example of one of the thousands of drawings available.
Besides the collection of part drawings, the Rumely and Allis-Chalmers Archive consists of three file cabinets of brochures, catalogs, photographs, employee publications, etc., for both Rumely and Allis-Chalmers. Again, a personal visit to the La Porte County Historical Society Museum is the best way to search this material for the needed information. Below are illustrations of just two items in this large collection.
