Centennial Cabin This photo shows the log cabin built in 1932 as part of La Porte’s Centennial celebration. The boulder that sits in front of it today reads “Centennial Cabin, 1832-1932. On this site was built the first log cabin in La Porte. Here was held the first session of the County Commissioners. Erected in memory of the pioneers by Miriam Benedict Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.” The cabin still exists today in 2005, though in seriously deteriorated condition.
