The Dick Building

This photograph dates to 1935 or 1936, and shows the Dick Building located on the southwest corner of Lincoln Way and Madison Street. The E. C. Luedtke Drug Store and Soda Fountain occupied the corner storefront, with the Cozy Theatre next door. One could see “Arizona Raiders” starring Buster Crabbe, along with three cartoons for only 15 cents! On beyond the Cozy was the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co., later known as the A & P stores, grocery sellers. In the upper floor of the Dick Building was a local chapter of the organization called “Woodmen of the World” or WOW for short. This great photograph was recently donated to the museum by Otto Salzer IV, and was from his grandfather’s collection, the local history buff Otto Salzer II.
